History of Alpen Rose Inn

Why make your family vacation, romantic getaway or family holiday plans for Alpen Rose Inn?

Because the Alpen Rose Inn is in the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth Washington USA, perfect for a Pacific Northwest vacation!

The Alpen Rose Inn was built in 1994, and was owned and managed by descendants of longterm Leavenworth residents, the Watson Family, descendents of a Leavenworth Washington pioneer family.  The Watson's set out to create an environment that offered a luxury lodging experience. Rather than build another Leavenworth hotel, they built the best of both worlds - a family operated Inn offering bed and breakfast amenities with the privacy of a small hotel.  On May 15, 2015, the Inn was acquired by a group of local investors who want to build on what the previous owners had created and improve upon it.  Chris Stockholm, one of the partners has been tasked with leading this effort and manage the day-to-day operations.

If you are planning some Washington State travel or a Washington State vacation, either as a family vacation destination or a romantic weekend getaway, our Bavarian Village is in Central Washington State and well worth a visit. If you do decide to venture out from the comfort of our Inn, you'll find a family vacation getaway and year-round outdoor recreation wonderland just outside. Leavenworth WA was reborn in the 1960s into a Bavarian Village theme (see Leavenworth History), very much like a small German village you might find in your European travels. The authenticity has attracted many people of direct German, Austrian and Norwegian descent who have made Leavenworth Washington their new home and livelihood.

Nestled in a valley on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains of Central Washington State, and in the heart of the 2.2 million acre Wenatchee National Forest, Leavenworth WA is a popular year-round Pacific Northwest vacation destination. The Cascades divide Washington like a wall, blocking the cool, moist marine air of the coastal regions and providing Leavenworth with a beautiful, dry four-season climate and 300 days of sunshine per year! The Leavenworth Valley is shown extreme left of center in the picture to the right, taken from Sugarloaf Fire Lookout on Entiat Ridge looking southwest, about one-hour from town. From the valley floor at 1500 ft above sea level, our small portion of the Cascades rises to the 8501 ft Cashmere Mountain, 8840 ft Dragontail Peak and 9415 ft Mt. Stuart, all in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area containing the Enchantments. With beautiful mountains and a dry four season climate, Leavenworth Washington is perfect for a family adventure vacation with lots of activities and outdoor recreation, or a less strenuous family vacation destination for relaxing and enjoying the season and each other.

The spirit and effort of the people of Leavenworth Washington, and a breathtaking setting in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State, have created a premier family holiday and family vacation destination for all ages. With many scheduled Festivals and Events such as Autumn Leaf, Oktoberfest, Christmas Lighting and Maifest, activities such as hiking, wine tasting, mountain biking, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, and whitewater rafting, and attractions such as Art in the Park, wineries, dining and shopping, your stay can be as relaxing, enlightening or exciting as you like.
